In this critical role, the Director of Sales Engineering will assist the Account Directors in maximizing the sales opportunities for PDV by identifying the customer needs to promote the customized solution to be offered, based on the technical, financial and business metrics. He/she will be a technical advocate and interface between the customer and the Company. The Director of Sales Engineering will support and implement customer prototypes and demos.
The Director of Sales Engineering must be able to successfully match the customer’s pain and requirements to proposed solutions. He/she will support the Account Directors with solution selling into prospect account base. He/she will partner with the Account Directors to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles. This person will create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition.
In this role the Director of Sales Engineering will own the technical relationship with the customer, as the main point of contact for all technical matters. They will collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support. He/she will gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements, and secure and renew orders and arrange delivery. This person will effectively communicate client needs to the R&D teams for future product enhancements, and they will model the financial business case associated with each sales opportunity.
The Director of Sales Engineering will comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customer on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements; advising the customer on needed actions. He/ she will collect, and document competitive intelligence and confer with customers and engineers to assess spectrum, products and services needs and to determine detailed requirements. He/ she will plan and adapt products and services to meet customer needs and help clients solve problems with installed equipment. They will develop the customer’s staff by providing technical information and training.
This person will help in researching and developing new products and will gather and document customer’s functional and technical requirements for proposals of PDV’s spectrum, products, and services. He/she will manage the preparation of RFP responses and collaborate with PDV’s Spectrum team for the preparation of spectrum assessments and development of clearing plans. The Director of Sales Engineering will collaborate with PDV’s Product team to identify and develop proposed products and services and orchestrate and manage the development of project SoWs. He/ She will also collaborate with Engineering for the enablement of a technology ecosystem that meets PDV’s customer needs. They will prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers.
To succeed in this role a BS/ BA and 10+ years of experience in solution selling required. This role has a required experience in IoT, Smart Grid and network communications solutions selling. This person must have excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills. He/she must have the ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy to understand manner, and the willingness to travel.
